With 306 black men being shot and killed by police officers in 2015 (and 123 so far in 2016), justice is far from blind. The recent deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile at the hands of white cops has once again brought these horrific shootings that seem to happen on an endless loop to the forefront, prompting nationwide protests and powerful voices in the hip hop community to respond.

In the last couple of days, artists such as Jay Z, Dizzy Wright, Miguel, Termanology, Saigon, Z-Ro, Slim Thug, Young Buck, Mistah FAB, KRS-One, Talib Kweli, and even actor Samuel L. Jackson have released tracks blasting police violence in America, the “land of the free.” With police officers being murdered at two rallies in the last week, it may be more important than ever to spread these songs, and not more violence, far and wide.
